[Player Ratings] Swansea 1-2 Arsenal: Gnabry Impresses As Ramsey Continues Superb Form

Arsenal sealed another three points thanks to goals from Serge Gnabry and Aaron Ramsey to secure a 2-1 win over Swansea on Saturday. Here are my ratings:

Serge-Gnabry

After a rather dull opening 45 minutes, Arsenal sealed another vital three points thanks to goals from Serge Gnabry and Aaron Ramsey. Ben Davies pulled on back but the Gunners held on to move clear at the top of the table. Here are my ratings:

Szczesny 8/10

The Pole was excellent for the most part. His over-confidence almost cost Arsenal in the first half when his ‘relaxed’ attitude almost resulted in a Swansea goal but other than that he was superb. Made a great stop to deny Dyer and collected several crosses to ease the pressure.

Sagna 7/10

Was slightly at fault for the home sides goal as he should have made more effort to stop Davies coming inside but this was the exception in another solid display.

Koscielny 7.5/10

Made some important interceptions and kept the Swansea attack at bay for much of the game.

Mertesacker 7/10

Was superb in the first half and almost scored early on with a powerful header, but fell asleep for the Swansea goal and his lack of pace was exposed as Davies beat him to the ball to score.

Gibbs 8/10

Another excellent performance from Gibbs. Dealt with Dyer well and was always keen to support the attacks. If he keeps this up, he should be pushing Cole for a spot in the England World Cup squad!

Wilshere 7.5/10

Started on the left wing again and kept coming inside in the first half which left huge gaps for Swansea to exploit, but stuck to the touchline more in the second half and helped Gibbs out far more. His fitness looks to be back to its best and we are seeing that little burst of pace more and more.

Ramsey 8.5/10

Slow start but grew into the game and eventually we saw the best of him. Scored yet another goal and assisted Gnabry for the opener. His excellent form continues.

Flamini 8/10

Another tenacious display from the Frenchman. His energy and defensive instincts are vital to our play. What an addition he has been and Arteta is going to find it difficult to regain his place.

Ozil 7/10

Not at his exhilarating best and we saw a few stray passes now and then, but was still a joy to watch at times. Almost got his first goal but was denied by Vorm.

Gnabry 8/10

Superb performance from the young German attacker. Created the only chance of the first half when he sent Giroud clear then opened the scoring with an excellent touch and finish. You would never know he’s just 18. Such a cool customer.

Giroud 7/10

His presence up front was important and he showed some nice touches. Should have scored just before half time but fired wide.

Subs:

Arteta – 6/10 – on for the last 15 minutes to see the game out.

Monreal – N/A – Not enough time.

You can watch the goals here if you didn’t catch the game or want to relive the action.
