Transfer News: Interest Mounts In Chelsea Outcast | Man Utd Dealt Midfielder Blow

Latest Transfer News: Interest mounts in Chelsea midfielder Kevin de Bruyne and Manchester United have been dealt a blow in their pursuit of Ander Herrera.

Kevin de Bruyne

Although the summer transfer window is officially closed that doesn’t stop clubs working hard behind the scenes and preparing for the January transfer window, so we’ll keep you up-to-date with all the latest gossip. Here, interest mounts in Kevin de Bruyne and Man Utd have been dealt a blow in their pursuit of Ander Herrera.

German Trio Eye De Bruyne

First up and the Mirror are reporting that a whole hosts of German clubs are lining up  loan moves for Chelsea outcast Kevin de Bruyne this January.

The Belgian international impressed while on loan at Werder Bremen last season but after making just 2 starts this year for Chelsea, the 22-year-old has quickly fallen out-of-favour under Jose Mourinho, with the Blues boss publicly criticising the players performances this campaign and left him back in west London for Chelsea’s trip to Steaua Bucharest on Tuesday.

The Mirror claim that Bremen are looking to try and bring De Bruyne back to the Bundesliga on loan in January but they will face stiff competition from Bayer Leverkusen and Wolfsburg, who are also thought to be interested.

The newspaper suggests that Leverkusen tried to sign De Bruyne as part of the deal that saw Andre Schurrle move to Stamford Bridge in the summer, and they may now go back with a new proposal after the youngster has dropped down the pecking order at Chelsea.

United dealt Herrera Blow

Next up and the Express are carrying quotes from Athletic Bilbao president Josu Urrutia who has shut the door on a possible move for Ander Herrera to Manchester United in January.

The Premier League champions were strongly linked with the Spanish midfielder in the summer and were believed to have failed with a late bid to land the player on deadline day.

The Express suggest that David Moyes was set to renew his interest when the transfer window re-opened in January as he tries to strengthen his squad following a disappointing start to life at Old Trafford.

However, Bilbao president Josu Urrutia insists the matter is now closed and urged Herrera to concentrate on giving his all to the club.

“I don’t know what other teams will do, but I consider the Herrera issue to be closed.

“Ander has a contract until 2016. All players have to focus on giving Athletic all you can give.” Urrutia is quoted as saying by the Express.

So it doesn’t look like the La Liga outfit are interested in cashing in on their star midfielder any time soon. United ended up buying Marouane Fellaini from Everton on deadline day but there is little doubt Moyes will need to add to his squad further this winter if he wants to defend the title.
