Manchester United take on Spanish outfit Real Sociedad at Old Trafford on Wednesday night looking to go a step closer to securing qualification to the knockout stages.

Ahead of the game, boss David Moyes has been in front of the media doing his press conference and gave ManUtd.com a team news and injury update with the latest on the fitness of Rio Ferdinand, Nemanja Vidic, Tom Cleverley and Danny Welbeck.

Defenders Ferdinand and Vidic missed Saturday’s disappointing 1-1 draw with Southampton through injury and while Moyes claims the duo are making good progress, the pair were forced to sit out training on Tuesday morning making them major doubts to face Sociedad.

Attacker Welbeck picked up a knock at the weekend while midfielder Cleverley has been struggling with a calf injury that he picked up while away with the England squad earlier this month. However, both are in with a shout of featuring tomorrow after taking part in training today.

As well as providing the latest injury news, Moyes also confirmed that teenage starlet Adnan Januzaj is available for selection after the 18-year-old was added to United’s Champions League squad having been made eligible to join the ‘B’ list.

He told the clubs official website:

“There are one or two knocks and niggles, which most teams have. Vida and Rio are making good progress. Danny Welbeck has a little bit of an injury from the Southampton game so we’ll have to see how he is. Tom Cleverley isn’t as bad as we thought. They both have a chance.”

“Januzaj is available,” Moyes added. “He’s an exciting young player and he’s making good progress all the time. He’s someone who, I’m sure, will play a big part in the future of Manchester United. He’s an exceptional talent.”
