Llorente: In his Athletic Bilbao days

Out-of-favour Juventus striker Fernando Llorente wants to join Arsenal in January in a bid to revive his hopes of making the Spain squad for next summers World Cup, according to the Mirror.

The 28-year-old only moved to Juve in the summer after completing a free transfer move from Athletic Bilbao but he’s found it difficult so far in Turin, with boss Antonio Conte preferring to go with Carlos Tevez and Marko Vucinic up front.

It’s seen Llorente make only a handful of starts with most of his appearances coming from the bench, and although Conte is beginning to use him more frequently in recent weeks, it seems the striker is thinking about a move in order to maintain his hopes of making Vicente del Bosque’s Spanish World Cup squad.

The Mirror claims Arsenal were interested in signing him from Bilbao before he opted for a move to Serie A and with Arsene Wenger understood to be on the look-out for another striker in January, Llorente is now back on the radar.

The newspaper suggests that the front man is keen on making the switch to north London when the transfer window re-opens, but it’s only likely to be on a short-term loan deal, which may suit all parties.

Wenger currently only has Nicklas Bendtner as competition for Olivier Giroud up front so another option in attack would greatly boost our hopes of winning the Premier League title this season, and Llorente would be a shrewd acquisition.

The only issue could be that he’s cup tied for the Champions League but we’re unlikely to get anyone with Llorente’s quality who isn’t already playing in Europe, other than perhaps Luis Suarez but the chances of prizing him away from Liverpool are slim, so he’d be a great option in my opinion.

The spainish stricker will be a good addition for arsenal. A laon deal, to help fortify the attack, to win the premier league, which is one I expect arsenal to win this season. His signing will bring Giroud to much greater inprovement and will give the team a possitive edge up front. Gunners 4 life.
