Chelsea welcome Premier League title rivals Manchester City to Stamford Bridge on Sunday afternoon, here is the latest team news from both camps.

Second-placed Chelsea are one point ahead of fourth-placed City and this game could prove crucial come the end of May in deciding where the title ends up this season.

Chelsea Team News

Ahead of the game Jose Mourinho has been holding his pre-match press conference and gave ChelseaFC.com a team news and injury update.

The west Londoners have received a major boost with the news that Ashley Cole has been passed fit to start after recovering from a rib injury. The 32-year-old missed Chelsea’s 3-0 win over Schalke in the Champions League on Tuesday but he is now back in the squad and expected to be recalled to the starting line-up with Cesar Azpilicueta dropping out.

Mourinho also confirmed to the clubs official website that he has no new injury concerns to deal with meaning the Blues are in great shape with only Marco van Ginkel absent through injury, with the Dutch youngster set to miss the rest of the season with a cruciate ligament injury.

Man City Team News

City boss Manuel Pellegrini has also been in front of the media today and gave MCFC.co.uk a team news update.

The Citizens have been dealt a major blow ahead of the game with the news that captain Vincent Kompany has been ruled out after failing to recover from a thigh strain.

The Belgian defender sustained the injury during City’s 3-1 win over Everton earlier this month and while he’s thought to be making good progress, the clash at Stamford Bridge will come too soon.

Pellegrini also confirmed that Jack Rodwell is fit and available and he has no other injuries to contend with heading to the capital. He told the clubs website:

“Vincent is still injured, so he will not have a chance to play this game,” he said.

“Jack Rodwell is OK and all the others are fit, we have no more injuries.”
