Germany coach Joachim Low has revealed that Arsenal’s Mesut Ozil is now feeling better and could line-up against Italy on Friday night, according to Goal.

Ozil was expected to miss the trip to Milan this week after joining up with the German squad late following a bout of sickness.

The 24-year-old put in a below-par display during Arsenal’s 1-0 defeat to Manchester United last weekend and subsequently called in sick on Monday morning with it looking like he had caught the same bug that had swept through the Gunners camp on the eve of the game at Old Trafford.

However, Low is now optimistic that Ozil could be fit to take on the Italians after linking up with the rest of the squad on Wednesday and is expected to take part in a full training session today.

“Mesut is feeling better, I expect that he will take full part in our final training session [on Thursday].” Low is quoted as saying by Goal

The former Real Madrid man was pictured leaving a London club late on Sunday night following Arsenal’s loss to United, with some skeptics suggesting that was the reason he was feeling unwell the following day and not the flu bug that had affected the likes of Per Mertesacker and Tomas Rosicky.

But Ozil has insisted that he was simply out for dinner and it had nothing to do with him calling in sick. He explained:

“We didn’t get back until late in the evening after the game in Manchester,”

“I went out for dinner after that, but that does not have anything to do with me calling in sick.

“I did not have any problems in the game against United and played for the full 90 minutes.”

Arsenal fans will be hoping Ozil doesn’t feature against Italy tomorrow night as judging by his performances recently, he could certainly do with a well-earned rest ahead of the north Londoners clash with Southampton next Saturday.
