Jack not the only lad at Arsenal……

Henri Lansbury vs Tottenham 436x340

Written by Sean Oakes.

Jack Wilshere has been recieving glowing reports over the past 12 months or so and he rightly deserves them. We must remember though that there are plenty more where he came from at Arsenal!!!

Henri Lansbury (pictured) was always thought to be the one from the Hale end academy that would break through first and ive no doubt that he would have done if not for contracting glandular fever. Henri is an all action midfielder in the style of Ray Parlour. He has captained his country at u16, u17 and u19 level and is now breaking into the England u21 set up. His big break though came in the Carling Cup tie against Spurs where he scored and had an excellant game.

Benik Afobe has been very highly thought of since the age of 9. He is one of those rare sorts a natural goalscorer with pace, power and great technique. His goalscoring record at junior level is awesome and he has taken that into the young England set ups recently scoring 4 goal s in 2 games for England u19′s. Benik has yet to make his break through but it only a matter of time before he does.

Chuks Aneke is a diamond of a footballer. He is big, strong, skilful, powerful and technically brilliant. He has modelled his game on former Arsenal skipper Patrick Vieira although he is far more attacking and has fantastic vision. Benik Afobe has said that Chuks creates most of his goals but he is not only a creator he is starting to finish off his own work in scintillating style now. Chuks is a player who can win a game on his own with a flash of brilliance and just like Afobe its just a matter of time before he is gracing the Arsenal 1st team..

None of them are like Wilshere, even JET and Frimpong (I like Lansbury and Sanchez Watt and Kyle Bartley but for me they’ve only shown good Championship/fair Premiership ability so far), who are the closest imo.
Of course they’re good prospects and just the possibility that they could displace someone in the first team SQUAD is fantastic but you’ve got to remember who they’re pushing past:
Cesc, Arshavin, Wilshere, Nasri, Roscky, Theo, Vela Chamakh, RvP, Bendtner, Denilsion, Song
And that’s without mentioning the young foreign guys like Wellington, Sunu, Coquelin, Ozyakup and the rest

Competition is fierce and unrelenting and until they’ve had a chance and taken it to show they are the best option in their position they won’t be antything like Wilshere – the idea there might be a few like him is very exciting indeed but probably unrealistic, if only statistically…
All the same, should be fun to see who makes it….

I certainly think we have some exciting times in store, it’s just the wait that’s frustrating but i’d rather have arsenal follow this model than that of manure or have a sugardaddy to buy titles for you.
Not sure if wenger always gets the blend of experience and youth right though. Need to keep the likes of cesc as long as possible and bring 1 or 2 winners in, ditchin losers like diaby and more often than not arshavin

What about Aaron Ramsey who surely would have been a regular starter in the team if not for his horrendous injury,so yes Wilshere is good and getting better with more playing time and experience but don,t forget about Aaron as he,ll be back one day ?
