The agent of Colombian striker Jackson Martinez flew in to London on Tuesday to hold talks with Chelsea over a potential move to Stamford Bridge, according to the Express.

The 27-year-old has continued his excellent goal-scoring form since making the move to Porto from Mexican side Jaguares in the summer of 2012, netting 34 goals in 43 appearances to help the club lift the Portuguese title last season, while he’s already got 10 in 15 games so far this campaign.

The Express claim his impressive form has attracted interest from the Premier League with Chelsea, Liverpool and Tottenham all linked with a move head of the January transfer window.

However, it appears the striker is edging closer to making a move to Stamford Bridge with the newspaper suggesting that Martinez’s agent, Henry Pompeo, flew to London on Tuesday to hold talks with Chelsea officials with the hope of tying up a deal soon.

The striker admitted earlier this month that he’d be keen to secure a ‘good transfer’ if Porto were prepared to let him go, and it seems he could get his wish if reports are to be believed.

“The years are passing and one day I hope to make a good transfer. It clearly depends on Porto, a club that sells its players so well. Leaving or staying depends on Porto but I will only go if there is something concrete.” Martinez is quoted as saying by talkSPORT

It remains to be seen whether the likes of Liverpool or Tottenham will seriously contest his signature if Chelsea are in fact holding talks with the players agent, but he would be an excellent signing if any of the trio were able lure the South American hitman to England.

Martinez didn’t let speculation over his future affect him on Tuesday night, as he scored the equaliser during Porto’s 1-1 draw with Austria Vienna. The result leaves the Portuguese champions sitting third in Group G and in danger of missing out on qualification to the knockout phase.
