Shinji-Kagawa-Man-Utd

Manchester United entertain Shakhtar Donetsk at Old Trafford on Tuesday night looking to secure top spot in their Champions League group.

Ahead of the game boss David Moyes has been in front of the media at his pre-match press conference and gave ManUtd.com a team news and injury update.

The good news is that midfielder Shinji Kagawa is expected to return to the squad after having his stomach pumped after last weeks 1-0 defeat to Everton on Wednesday night. The Japanese star subsequently missed Saturday’s defeat to Newcastle but has returned to training today and is back in contention to face the Ukrainian champions.

Moyes told the clubs official website:

“Shinji trained today and I think he’ll be okay tomorrow,”

Moyes also confirmed that he may have to reshuffle his backline with defensive trio Nemanja Vidic, Patrice Evra and Chris Smalling all doubts for the game after missing training on Monday while midfielder Marouane Fellaini also failed to train this morning, but the United boss offered no update on the fitness of striker Robin van Persie – who started his first game in over a month on Saturday against Newcastle. He continued:

“There’s a little bit of that in my thinking. We have got one or two injuries that I need to look at and that will come into consideration.”

“Yes, they [Vidic, Evra and Smalling] are injury doubts.”

While United may have some issues in defence, one man who is certain to be back in the squad is Wayne Rooney with the striker set to return after serving a one-game ban.
