Bale “Disappointed” Despite Stunning Hat-trick

Written by Viorel Mesca

The shy and modest Welsh wonderkid played down personal plaudits after his outstanding performance against Inter. Unplayable down the left flank throughout the game, Bale scored a wonderful hat-trick.

Unfortunately, his joy at this magnificent achievement was shadowed by regret as Spurs were “sloppy” in the first 35 minutes.

According to an interview after the game, published by uefa.com, when asked about his achievement, the enthusiastic winger said:

“It’s hugely disappointing. The result is what matters to us and it was massively disappointing so we want to put that right next time.

“We started off sloppy and paid the price in the first half but with ten men we showed what a good team we are. If we had 11 men on the field it could have been a different game.”

Despite the defeat, he is confident of a different outcome when the sides meet again at White Hart Lane.

“A lot of positives came out of the second half. We kept the ball well with ten men and hopefully back at White Hart Lane we can do a better job and get a victory,”

Both Rafael Benítez and his Tottenham Hotspur counterpart Harry Redknapp praised Gareth Bale after the left winger scored a hattrick in the Wednesday’s clash.

Redknapp said:

“It was a fantastic hat-trick from Gareth Bale, another amazing performance from him.

Hes as good a left-sided player as there is anywhere; there won’t be too many in the world better than him at the moment.

Here are Rafa’s words on the subject:

“Though Bale scored three times, I don’t think we made tactical mistakes in marking him: he was simply faster than our players on the left.”

It seems that Bale has the world at his feet and one could only wonder how long Spurs can hold him at White Hart Lane. There are reports that Italy is in love with him as Juventus, Milan and Inter are trying to lure him to Italian football. Add Manchester United to that list of potential buyers and you can honestly value him at €25 million. Minimum!

Dear readers, have your say! Will Gareth Bale be lured away from White Hart Lane?
