The agent of Toni Sanabria claims the Barcelona striker is close to signing for Arsenal and expects a ‘solution’ within the next week, according to Sky Sports News.

Sanabria is regarded as one of the most highly-rated youngsters to be emerging from the Barca youth academy and despite being a regular in their B team, he’s been invited to train with the first team on several occasions this season.

However, it seems the 17-year-old is growing inpatient and is eager for first team football, with Sky Sports claiming he has informed the Catalans he will be leaving the club after snubbing their latest contract offer.

The Paraguayan international is still tied to a youth contract and can not sign professional terms until he turns 18 next March due to Spanish law, so it appears Arsenal have seized their chance to lure him away from the Nou Camp with a bumper contract as well as the promise of being fast-tracked to the first team.

The players agent, Raul Verdu, has now confirmed that talks with the Gunners are at an advanced stage and he expects things to be resolved within the next week.

“Our contacts with Arsenal are advanced and I expect a solution in the next week.” Verdu is quoted as saying by Sky Sports

The report suggests Arsenal have beaten off competition from a whole host of European clubs to land the exciting forward and may only have to pay as little as £300,000 in compensation to Barcelona.

If Sanabria does end up moving to the Emirates, he will join a growing list of youngsters who have been lured to north London with Wenger previously raiding the Catalans youth ranks for the likes of Jon Toral, Fran Merida, Hector Bellerin, Julio Pleguezuelo Selva and most famously Cesc Fabregas, in recent years.
