The draw for the semi finals of the Capital One Cup took place on Wednesday night and the two Manchester giants have been kept apart.

Manchester United secured their place in the hat with a relatively comfortable 2-0 win over Stoke City tonight thanks to goals from Ashley Young and Patrice Evra. David Moyes side have been rewarded with a clash against Gus Poyet’s Sunderland – who booked their place in the last four with an impressive 2-1 win over Chelsea on Tuesday night – with the first leg to be played at the Stadium of Light.

Manchester City will therefore take on West Ham in the other tie. Manuel Pellegrini’s men eased past Leicester City on Tuesday night with a 3-1 win while the Hammers shocked Tottenham Hotspur with a 2-1 comeback victory at White Hart Lane on Wednesday night. The first leg will be played at the Etihad Stadium.

The ties will be played on the weeks commencing 6th and 20th January.
