Manchester United take on Hull City on Boxing Day looking to continue their march towards the top four.

United head into the game in good form and after a disappointing start to the season, they sit just six points off the Champions League places, so will hope to cut the gap further on Thursday.

Ahead of the game, David Moyes has been in front of the media and gave ManUtd.com a team news and injury update. The United boss confirmed that Danny Welbeck could be available despite being forced off against West Ham with a knee injury.

Moyes revealed that the 23-year-old has returned to training after receiving a kick to his kneecap against the Hammers and is hopeful he’ll be available for the trip to the DW Stadium.

The Scot also eased fears over the fitness of captain Nemanja Vidic, revealing that the Serb has been suffering from a bad throat but is ‘fine’. He told the clubs official website:

“It’s only a kick to his knee,” said Moyes.

“I didn’t know exactly what it was after the game. He’d had a knee problem a few weeks ago, but this was a kick to it. He’s trained and we hope that he’s OK. My worry was, ‘is this the same knee that caused him a problem?’ But it was a kick right in the kneecap. It’s a contact injury, not anything to do with cartilage or anything else.”

“I think Danny’s a really good player, and I want him to become a really good goalscorer. He’s got three in the last three games, so that’s a good record for him and he has to try to keep that level up.”

“Vida’s fine, he also had a bad throat the other week, and he had an injury when he came back so we just had to look after him, but he is fine.”

Moyes could make some changes from the side that beat West Ham with the boss having one eye on the clubs trip to Carrow Road to face Norwich on Saturday. The likes of Shinji Kagawa, Javier Hernandez and Ryan Giggs could come in while Ashley Young will also be hoping to start having come off the bench to score at the weekend.

Marouane Fellaini has been ruled out for six weeks with a wrist problem while Robin van Persie is also still sidelined. Here’s the team Moyes could go with:
