Big Guns Set To Scrap Over £30m-Rated Spanish International

A host of Premier League clubs are tracking Sevilla star Alberto Moreno with Arsenal, Chelsea, Man Utd, Man City and Liverpool all understood to be interested in the £30m-rated left-back, according to the Daily Star.
Moreno has emerged as one of the most highly-rated defenders in Europe after an excellent season in Spain where his adventurous displays down the left flank have helped guide Sevilla up to fifth place in the La Liga table and in with a shout of qualifying for the Champions League.
His impressive form has not only seen the 21-year-old break into the senior Spain squad and tipped to go to the World Cup, he’s also attracted interest from all over Europe with the Daily Star claiming that Arsenal, Chelsea, Man Utd, Man City and Liverpool are all keen on luring him to England at the end of the season.
The newspaper suggests that the quintet are all on the look-out for new left-backs this summer and view Moreno as an alternative to Luke Shaw, with Chelsea and United believed to be leading the chase for the Southampton full-back.
Scouts were once again in the stands to see Moreno put in an excellent performance during Sevilla’s 4-1 win over Espanyol on Sunday, but the report states that any club looking to try and land the youngster this summer will have to dig deep as Los Rojiblancos will demand £30m for his services.
That kind of money may prove to be a stumbling block for the likes of Arsenal or Liverpool, who may be reluctant to spend such a fee on a left-back, but it shouldn’t be a problem for the likes of Chelsea, City or United.
Chelsea and United are almost certainly going to be in the market for left-backs with both Ashley Cole and Patrice Evra expected to find new clubs when their contracts expire in June, and it seems they will switch their attention to Moreno if they fail to lure Shaw out of Southampton this summer.
Liverpool are also likely to bring in a left-back with doubts continuing over the long-term fitness of Jose Enrique and Brendan Rodgers unlikely to sign on-loan Aly Cissokho in a permanent basis, but I’d be surprised if Arsenal were willing to splash out big-bucks on another left-sided defender when they already have Kieran Gibbs and Nacho Monreal on the books.
City’s interest is intriguing as they too have two good options on the left in Gael Clichy and Alev Kolarov but Manuel Pellegrini regularly rotates the pair and may not see either of them as his long-term first choice, which could see the Citizens look to strengthen in that area this summer with Moreno seemingly a key target.
