Arsenal moved back into fourth spot in the Premier League table with a 3-1 comeback win over West Ham on Tuesday night thanks to a double from Lukas Podolski and a fine effort from Olivier Giroud.

After the game boss Arsene Wenger gave Arsenal.com an update on the fitness of Mesut Ozil and Abou Diaby, and it looks like the injured duo are close to making a first team comeback.

Ozil has been on the sidelines since suffering a hamstring injury during the opening stages of our Champions League second leg with Bayern Munich back in March but he returned to full training last week and Arsene has confirmed the German international should be available to face Hull City this weekend.

Diaby is also due back in full training tomorrow after more than a year out with a serious knee injury but the boss is reluctant to say whether the midfielder will be considered for first team duties before the end of the season after such a long time on the sidelines.

Wenger told the clubs website:

on Abou Diaby…

Abou is back in full training on Thursday. It’s very difficult to say [if he will play this season] because he has not played for over a year now, and it’s very difficult for me [to decide]. He looks physically fine, but he has to play one or two games before I consider bringing him back.

on Mesut Ozil…

Ozil should be available for the weekend.

Having Ozil back for the final five games of the season is going to be a huge boost as we’ve badly missed him over the past five weeks, but the boss is right to be cautious with Diaby. The Frenchman’s is a fragile player and could easily breakdown again if we push him too hard, too soon.

With Aaron Ramsey now also back and Jack Wilshere stepping up his recovery from a foot injury, we’re slowly getting our players fit again which will hopefully help us during the closing games of the season.

How big a boost will it be to have Ozil available again? Share your views below.
