Tottenham Hotspur entertain London rivals Fulham at White Hart Lane on Saturday lunchtime looking to go a step closer to securing a European place.

Ahead of the game boss Tim Sherwood has been speaking at his pre-match press conference this afternoon and gave TottenhamHotspur.com a team news and injury update.

Sherwood confirmed that midfielder Mousa Dembele is back in contention to face his former club after recovering from injury. The Belgian international has missed the last two games against West Brom and Sunderland but returned to play 90 minutes for the under-21’s against Manchester United on Monday night and is now available to face the Cottagers.

There was also good news on the fitness of Michael Dawson with the defender returning to training after a hamstring injury that’s kept him out in recent weeks, while striker Roberto Soldado is also back in training following his own hamstring complaint. However, neither player is expected to feature this weekend.

While the return of the trio is a boost to Sherwood, he will still be without Jan Vertonghen, Kyle Walker, Etienne Capoue and Erik Lamela as the quartet continue to recover form their respective long-term injuries.

Spurs head into the game sitting seven points adrift of fourth-placed Arsenal so any realistic hopes of qualifying for the Champions League vanished with last weeks draw at West Brom, so the north Londoners will now be concentrating on holding on to sixth-place from Manchester United – who are just three points behind with a game in hand.
