As we approach the business end of the season clubs are starting to make plans for the summer transfer market so we’ll bring you all the latest news and gossip. Today, Arsenal are linked with a £6m-rated winger while Liverpool face a fight to land Barcelona’s Cristian Tello.

Arsenal Eye £6m Winger

First up and the Mirror are reporting that Arsenal are showing an interest in Benfica’s highly-rated winger Goncalo Guedes after sending scouts to watch the youngster in action this season.

Guedes has yet to make his first team debut for the recently crowned Portuguese champions but had been impressing in their youth team this year.

His exciting displays appear to have caught the eye of some top European clubs with the Mirror claiming that Arsenal have send scout Gilles Grimandi to watch the 17-year-old in action during Benfica’s UEFA Youth League games.

However, the Gunners will face competition from AC Milan and Borussia Dortmund with the duo also understood to have been keeping a close eye on the winger, who has already represented Portugal at Under 16, 17 and 18 level and has been tipped to become a senior international in the near future.

Benfica are understandably keen to keep hold of Guedes and the newspaper suggests they are trying to tie him down to a new contract that would include a sizeable buy-out clause, but if they fail to secure his long-term future before the summer they could cash-in if a bid of £6m comes in.

It remains to be seen if Arsenal would be willing to pay that kind of money for the relatively unproven youngster, or even if they’ll follow up their initial interest with a firm bid, but it seems Arsene Wenger is still planning for the future even though he’s yet to sign a contract extension at the Emirates.

Liverpool Face Tello Fight

Next up and talkSPORT are reporting that Liverpool will have to battle it out with AC Milan for Cristian Tello with Barcelona ready to sell the winger this summer.

Tello has been linked with a move to Anfield in the past and with the club failing to land him on a loan deal last summer. However, the 22-year-old has struggled to make any significant impact on the Barca first team this season, and although the stats show he has made 19 appearances, 17 of those have come from the subs bench.

talkSPORT claim the winger has already scheduled a meeting with sporting director Andoni Zubizarreta at the end of the season to discuss his future, but it’s understood the Catalans are ready to cash in if an offer of €10m (£8m) comes in.

That would be a reasonable price for a player of Tello’s obvious talent and potential, so it could be a very tempting prospect for Brendan Rodgers – who is expected to be active in the transfer market this summer as he looks to build a squad capable of competing in the Champions League next season.

However, it appears Liverpool have some catching up to do if they want to bring the attacker to Anfield with the report suggesting AC Milan have already held talks with the players agent, Josep Maria Orobitg, and are planning on making a formal approach to Barca in the coming weeks.
