Benzema Set For £40m Move As Real Madrid Eye Huge Suarez Bid

As we approach the business end of the season clubs are starting to make plans for the summer transfer market so we’ll bring you all the latest news and gossip. Today, Real Madrid are ready to cash-in on Karim Benzema this summer.

Arsenal, Chelsea and Manchester United have been alerted to the news that Real Madrid are ready to sell £40m-rated striker Karim Benzema and hope to replace him with either Luis Suarez or Sergio Aguero, according to the Daily Mail.

Benzema is enjoying a productive year at the Bernabeu and scored his 24th goal of the season with a vital winner against Bayern Munich in the first leg of their Champions League semi final last week. It took his tally to 111 goals in 230 appearances since joining from Lyon in 2009, while he’s also chipped in with an impressive 62 assists during that time.

However, it appears that return hasn’t satisfied the Real Madrid bosses with the Daily Mail claiming they are looking to upgrade Benzema this summer and are willing to cash-in on the France international if an offer in the region of £40m comes in, with Arsenal, Chelsea and Manchester United all understood to be interested in bringing him to the Premier League.

With Champions League football almost secured, the Gunners are expected to be in the market for a big-name striker this summer with Arsene Wenger finally looking to add some serious competition to Olivier Giroud up front and he’s known to be a long-term admirer of Benzema’s with the north Londoners heavily linked with a move last summer.

Chelsea boss Jose Mourinho has also made no secret of his desire to bring in a top striker this summer while Manchester United are likely to spend heavily in the transfer market following a disappointing season, and Benzema would be a marquee signing for either club.

So it looks like Madrid will have no shortage of takers for the 26-year-old and the Mail claim they will use the funds raised from Benzema’s sale to try and sign either Liverpool’s Luis Suarez or Manchester City’s Sergio Aguero.

Deals for the duo are going to be extremely difficult to pull off though as understandably neither Liverpool or City are going to want to sell their key men. The Merseysiders have made huge strides this season and are now matching Suarez’s ambition of playing in the Champions League and competing for trophies so you’d think it would take a bid in the region of £100m for the Anfield club to even consider selling the Uruguayan hitman.

City are also desperate to hang on to Aguero and have held talks with the players representatives about a new deal at the Etihad, and with the Citizens under no financial pressure to sell, it would also take a mammoth bid for them to be tempted to cash-in.

It’s gearing up to be an interesting summer with the likes of Suarez and Benzema likely to be central to the transfer gossip once again. Madrid aren’t going to sell unless they have a replacement lined-up but I really don’t see the Spaniard’s having any luck landing Suarez or Aguero unless they are willing to spend Gareth Bale type money to get them.

So the likes of Arsenal, Chelsea and United might be frustrated in their pursuit of Benzema unless the La Liga giants can find an alternative or come up with the money needed to tempt Liverpool or City into a sale.
