Theo Walcott continued his impressive goalscoring form this season with another well taken strike. Arsenal hit Shakhtar on the break, Wilshere lofting a clever through-ball over the top into space sending the England speedster in the clear. Walcott raced away and cooly slotting home from the edge of the area to give the Gunners the lead.

But after that Donetsk took control of the first half and drew level thanks to a header from Chygrynskiy although the final touch was from Arsenal’s Eastmond. Shortly before half-time the moment we all knew was coming, a goal from ex-gunner Eduardo. Clichy should have made a relatively simple clearance on the touch-line but lost possession and Eduardo slotted home from the resulting cut-back. There were no further goals in the second half and Arsenal dropped their first points in this years competition and will have to wait to secure qualification to the knockout stages.
