Arsenal have been hit by a fresh injury blow with Bacary Sagna rated at just 50:50 to be fit to face West Bromwich Albion on Sunday after picking up a knee injury, according to reports today.

Sagna has been one of our most consistent performers this season and has made 44 appearances in all competitions so far this campaign – which is the third highest in the squad behind only Wojciech Szczesny (45) and Per Mertesacker (49).

However, it appears the Frenchman is a major doubt for this weekend’s visit of West Brom to the Emirates with the Mirror claiming he has picked up a knee injury in training and is now rated at just 50:50 to take part.

Arsene Wenger didn’t report this injury in his team news update on Arsenal.com on Thursday, so the injury either occurred after the article was published or the boss was trying to play down the problem.

Obviously it would be a real blow to lose Sagna as we go searching for the win that would secure fourth place and Champions League qualification for next season, and Carl Jenkinson will have to deputise at right-back if he doesn’t make it.

If Sagna doesn’t feature on Sunday, there’s a very-real possibility he could have already played his final game at the Emirates. The 31-year-old is out-of-contract in the summer and so far we’ve been unable to find an agreement over an extension so it looks as though he could be off at the end of June.

Jack Wilshere and Alex Oxlade-Chamberlain are certain to miss the West Brom game as they continue to recover from their respective injuries, while the clash will also come too soon for Kieran Gibbs as he’s only just returned to fitness training following a hamstring injury.
