Liverpool Fear Spurs Are Set To Hijack £20m Deal

By on May 15, 2014

As we approach the opening of the summer window clubs will be intensifying their efforts in the transfer market so we’ll bring you all the latest news and gossip. Today, Liverpool fear missing out on Adam Lallana.

Adam-Lallana

The Daily Star are reporting that Liverpool fear Tottenham could hijack their move for Adam Lallana if they are successful in luring Maouricio Pochettino to White Hart Lane this summer.

The Reds have been strongly linked with Lallana in recent days and reports earlier this week claimed they had all-but agreed a £20m deal with Southampton to make the attacker their first summer signing.

However, those reports appear to have been wide of the mark and now the Merseysiders are fearing the 26-year-old could end up following Pochettino to Spurs.

The Daily Star claim Tottenham chairman Daniel Levy has already made contact with Southampton over the Argentinian’s availability after making him the clubs no.1 target to replace Tim Sherwood, who was sacked earlier this week.

Spurs have also been linked with a move for Lallana and the newspaper suggests the attacking midfielder could be tempted to follow his current boss to the capital should a double deal be agreed with the Saints.

Obviously there is still much work to be done before any deal, or deals, are completed but I would be surprised if Lallana would turn his back on a move to Anfield and Champions League football for Spurs and the Europa League, even if he enjoys a positive relationship with Pochettino.

Liverpool are a step above the north Londoners at present and have been hugely impressive this past season, and Lallana must be tempted to link up with the likes of Luis Suarez and Daniel Sturridge next season if he completes his proposed move to Anfield.

    Who writes this rubbish?
What’s the choice? Liverpool the best footballing side in the league. Massive global club. Manager of the year who’s also young and totally commited. Fantastic owners who understand sport because that’s their business. Champions League next season and another title assault or……Spurs!!! Enough said.

For some players, feeling at home at a club is a big thing. Lallana sounds like one of those lads that would prefer to stay in his comfort zone. Pochetinno moving to Spurs would be an attraction as they both rate one another highly and he may settle quicker.

I’m sure he’d even pick mid-table United before joining Spurs. Tottenham’s days of stealing Liverpool targets are over.

What is this? Don’t Spurs have their own scout, every time they have to steal Liverpool target. Maybe Liverpool should consider letting Lallana go to Spurs, since most of last season players steal from Liverpool did not perform…..
