Chelsea face a fight to hang on to Eden Hazard with Paris Saint-Germain ready to make a €60m move after making the attacker their No.1 transfer target this summer, according to reports today.

The Ligue 1 champions have been linked with Hazard for some time after tracking over the past year but now it seems they are ready to make their interest official over the coming weeks.

The Daily Star claim boss Laurent Blanc has made the Belgian international his main priority this summer and has asked the clubs wealthy owners to finance a deal to bring him to the Parc des Princes.

PSG’s spending power has been limited by the recent restraints put in place by UEFA after the French outfit were one of several teams who failed to meet their Financial Fair Play guidelines. However, French-based media outlet L’Equipe claims that the club will still be able to make at least one marquee signing this summer and are lining up a €60m (£49m) bid for Hazard, while president Nasser All-Khelaifi insists the club will still buy the players they want despite UEFA’s sanctions.

“The players we want will be purchased. We already have a great team. There is no great need,”

“I’ll meet Laurent Blanc this week to discuss, even if it already has.

“With him, it was established a few profiles of stars of interest. No one will stop us, I repeat.

“That’s our business.” All-Khelaifi is quoted as saying by the Star

Chelsea are also more mindful of UEFA’s FFP rules these days and with boss Jose Mourinho’s desperate to bring in at least one big-money striker this summer, he could be tempted to cash in on Hazard if a sizeable offer does come in to help him strengthen up front.

Mourinho has also singled Hazard out for some tough criticism in recent weeks after accusing the attacker of not sacrificing himself enough following the youngsters error in their 3-1 defeat to Atletico Madrid in the semi final of the Champions League, so the Portuguese coach may decide it’s best for the team if Hazard is sold.

Mourinho showed with the sale of Juan Mata to Manchester United that he’s not afraid to make huge calls if he thinks it’s necessary, but I’d still be majorly surprised if he allowed Hazard to leave this summer.

It wouldn’t go down too well with the Stamford Bridge faithful if the 23-year-old was sold, as he’s just enjoyed a superb season that saw him named as the PFA Young Player of the Year as well as Chelsea’s Player of the Season.
