As we approach the opening of the summer window clubs will be intensifying their efforts in the transfer market so we’ll bring you all the latest news and gossip. Today, Arsenal are linked with Carlos Vela and Antoine Griezmann.

Arsenal are in talks with Real Sociedad over the futures of Carlos Vela and Antoine Greizmann and it looks like one of the attackers could end up moving to north London this summer, according to reports in Spain.

We’ve been linked with a move for Griezmann in recent months after sending scouts to keep a close eye on his progress last season, and they would have been impressed by what they saw as the winger score 16 goals in 36 games to help Sociedad to a seventh placed finish in the La Liga table.

We’ve also been linked with Griezmann’s team mate Carlos Vela, with the Mexican tipped to make a return to the Emirates just two years after we sold him for €3m euro’s after a disappointing six-year stay in North London that saw him make just 62 appearances for the club.

Arsenal inserted several clause’s in the 25-year-old’s contract when he was sold that means not only are we in line to make 50% of any sell-on fee but we can also buy him back for just €4m. Vela recently claimed we “wouldn’t be very intelligent” if we didn’t activate the clause this summer after watching him score an impressive 21 goals and provide 13 assist in 52 games last year, but it remains to be seen whether Arsene Wenger feels he’s ready to do the business in the Premier League yet.

However, Spanish newspaper Mundo Deportivo claims today that Arsenal are already in talks with Sociedad about both attackers and an interesting proposal has been put forward that could see Vela stay in Spain and Griezmann move to the Emirates in a cut-price deal.

The newspaper states that Sociedad want to remove the buy-back clause in Vela’s contract but can’t afford the €12m that Arsenal are demanding, so it’s been suggested that we use that money as part-payment for Greizmann.

The 23-year-old Frenchman has a €30m buy-out clause so if we remove Vela’s buy-back clause – which we value at €12m – then theoretically we could sign Greizmann for the remaining €18m. Which would be an absolute steal for a player of his ability.

It’s certainly an interesting deal and it looks like a win-win-win for Arsenal. If Wenger wants Vela back then we get a top quality attacker for just €4m. If we don’t want him and Sociedad sell, then we get 50% of his fee, which would reportedly be in the region of €30m – so €15m net to Arsenal. And in the third scenario, we could sign Griezmann for just €18m.

I was a huge fan of Vela’s when he was at Arsenal but he just couldn’t cut it in English football and I’m not sure that’s changed, so my preference would be for Greizmann to come to the club. He’s a real talent and would give us plenty of options and add some much-needed pace in attack next season.

Surely if one scenario is that we receive 50% of any fee for Vela and this is could be in the region of 30 million euros so 15 million euros for Arsenal then the best thing to do is to buy Vela back for 4 million euros, sell him ourselves for 30 million and then use the 30 million to get Greizmann. That way we get a 30 million euro player for a net of 4 million euros rather than 18 million euros.

That was my thinking too, why would we pay 18m for griezmann when we can have vela for 4m anyway

Wenger would never buy a player to just turn around and sell him. It would be cheaper to get Griezmann for 18 million and then if Vela sells for 30 and we get 15 million of that, we would have essentially only paid 3 million for Griezmann, which is a steal.

C’mon Wenger with that £100million for grab,2strikers,a defensive midfielder and 2 defenders should’nt be a problem for such a big club like Arsenal. Many games to play with CL qualifying round, challenge for EPL,League & To defend the FA Cup, we need quality players including the reserves when they will call upon to perform. With the club scouting team can determine and recommend good quality players and Arsenal FC can assemble big strong squad to challenge for trophies next sesson will be fulfill for the fans.

I don’t think he will go for an outright defensive midfielder. I think he has shown he prefers an arteta type player alongside a box to box. I personally think he would rather sign fabregas than a Dm like martinez. Then rotate fabregas wilshire Ramsey arteta flamini and diaby in the double pivot whilst rotating ozil rosicky aneke Cazorla podolski chamberlain gnabry campbell and Walcott in the attacking midfield. Giroud, vela, sanogo and
and our new world class striker will compete for the lone striker role. Then it’s just a keeper a right back and a centre back to sign, may be 2 if we lose vermaelen.

Wenger will NEVER buy 5 new players in one transfer window. Moreover the team does not need 5 new additions.
We know how it turned out the last time he did that.

Vela had the same number of goals as Griezmann and more assists. He has Premiership experience and is taller than Griezmann. Again, why would their club prefer to keep Vela and release Griezmann? So, Arsenal would spend 18m to have the less interesting player rather than 4m for the preferred? These rumours are so crazy at times!!

I don’t see reason to pay £18m when we can get £4m top quality who also knows the system well.
That Greizman aint much to write home about but Vela is technically astute and has toughened up. Vela can see that people like David Silva who is not big can do with technique and speed and wonders: why not me? We need more player next season if we’re gonna sustain challenging for top honours. Believe me, top striker like Benzema get injured at inopportune moment, so without anyone else we will be truly effed like we did last season.
