Arsenal manager Arsene Wenger has confirmed the club is in talks with Samir Nasri and Gael Clichy over contract extensions.

Both Frenchman have been first-team regulars this season and Wenger feels it’s important to tie them down to long-term deals at the Emirates. Nasri has arguably been Arsenal’s most consistent performer so far this season and no Gunners fan would argue with a new contract being offered to the midfielder.

However, despite being one of the clubs longest serving players, some fans may feel Clichy should be made to work a little harder for his extension after his latest lapse in concentration cost the Gunners in midweek against Shakhtar Donetsk.

But Arsene confirmed yesterday when asked about Clichy and Nasri being offered new deals, the boss said that the club were working on improving the contracts of both players:

“We are working on it at the moment,” said the manager.

“I’m hopeful of agreeing the deals, yes, because the players want to stay.”

Does Clichy deserve a new contract or should we wait until his form improves? Please leave you’re comments below….

Sell Clichy and buy someone else to stand for Gibbs till he develops.
    As simple as that.

If young Gibbs could stay fit i don’t think i would offer Clichy a new contract, because he would be first choice before the end of the season, and the other clubs trying to tap him up so we need to show him commitment! but since he seems to be as reliable as van percie in the fitness we need to offer him another two years.
