Arsenal Playmaker Set For Surprise Move Back To Spain?

Santi Cazorla is being lined-up for a surprise move back to Spain with Atletico Madrid ready to table a €22m bid for the Arsenal playermaker this summer.

As we approach the opening of the summer window clubs will be intensifying their efforts in the transfer market so we’ll bring you all the latest news and gossip. Today, Gooner Mac brings us news on Santi Cazorla.

Santi-Cazorla

Santi Cazorla is being lined-up for a surprise move back to Spain with Atletico Madrid ready to table a €22m bid for the Arsenal playermaker this summer, according to reports in Spain.

Cazorla has been a superb addition to the Gunners squad since making a £12m move from Malaga two years ago and played a pivotal role in securing our comeback win over Hull City in last months FA Cup final, with his stunning free-kick the catalyst as we came from 2-0 down to eventually win 3-2.

However, it seems his impressive form has attracted interest from abroad with Marca claiming that recently-crowned La Liga champions Atletico Madrid want to lure him back to Spain and are lining-up a €22m (£18m) offer.

Atletico were strongly linked with Cazorla last summer and there were even reports the player had agreed personal terms over a move. Arsene Wenger refused to do business, but now it appears they are ready to renew their interest after making the 29-year-old one of their top summer transfer targets.

Atletico right-back Juanfran has recently admitted he’s been trying to persuade Cazorla to join him at the Vicente Calderon, telling reports:

“I’m trying to convince everyone to stay and also many national team players to join Atlético de Madrid. Santi is one of them”. Juanfran is quoted as saying by Marca

I’m sure this wont go down too well in north London, but Arsene Wenger can rest easy as the club are under no pressure to sell the playmaker as he only recently signed a new contract and has shown no desire to leave any time soon.

Cazorla is a vital part of our team and although £18m could be a tempting offer for a player approaching 30, I’d be hugely surprised if the club even entertained it should Atletico make a formal offer this summer.
