Man Utd Linked With €15m Move For Dutch International

Manchester United are keeping tabs on Ajax ace Daley Blind and could make a €15m swoop if he continues to impress for Holland at the World Cup, according to reports.

With Dutch boss Louis van Gaal set to take over at Old Trafford once his World Cup commitments are over, predictably he’s being tipped to bring with him some of his compatriots and the latest name to be suggested as a possible United signing is Blind.

The 23-year-old is the son of former Dutch international Danny and he came through the youth ranks at Ajax after joining the club as an eight year old in 2008 to become a regular in the starting eleven in 2012.

Although he established himself as a left-back, Frank de Boer converted him into a defensive midfielder last season and he played a key role in helping the club land the Eredivisie title, so his versatility is sure be appeal.

His impressive form has also seen him break into the senior Dutch side and van Gaal started him during Friday night’s stunning 5-1 win over defending champions Spain, with Blind impressing with an adventurous display down the left flank.

The Mirror claim that should the youngster continue to show he’s capable of cutting it against the very best at the World Cup then van Gaal will give serious consideration to taking him with him to United this summer.

 The newspaper suggests that Blind would jump at the chance of linking up with his national team boss in England and Ajax are thought to be willing to do business at €15million (£12m), but it remains to be seen whether United would be willing to match that figure.

The fact van Gaal plays him at left-back for his country suggests he feels that’s Blind’s best position, so it’s likely that if he does end up moving to United then he’ll provide competition to Patrice Evra for the left-back role in defence.
