Liverpool In ‘Advanced Talks’ Over Stunning €65m Swap Deal

By on June 20, 2014

As we approach the opening of the summer window clubs will be intensifying their efforts in the transfer market so we’ll bring you all the latest news and gossip. Today, interesting news on Luis Suarez.

Some interesting news coming out of Spain today with reports claiming that Barcelona are in advanced talks to sign Luis Suarez for €65m in a deal that could also see Alexis Sanchez head to Liverpool.

Suarez was on top form last night as his two well-taken goals dismantled England and all-but ended Roy Hodgson’s hopes of qualifying for the knockout stages of the World Cup.

Predictably the Uruguayan hitman has been making the headlines and Spanish newspaper Mundo Deportivo have Suarez splashed on their front page claiming that Barcelona are close to beating Real Madrid to the strikers signature this summer.

The report suggests that Suarez signed a new deal at Liverpool last summer that included an €85m (£68m) release clause, but this figure will apparently drop to just €65m (£52m) for either Barca or Madrid. It’s not uncommon for players to name specific clubs in their contracts and Suarez hasn’t hidden his desire to join either of the Spanish giants in the past, but it remains to be seen how much truth there is in Mundo Deportivo’s claims.

The newspaper goes on to suggest that Suarez favours a move to the Nou Camp and the Catalans have made him their No.1 target this summer with talks believed to be at an ‘advanced stage’, and they claim that Liverpool have demanded Alexis Sanchez as part of the deal.

The British media have also picked up on this story and the Express suggest the Reds could get £30m plus Sanchez in exchange for Suarez, with the Chilean attacker expected to leave La Liga this summer.

Obviously these aren’t the kind of reports Liverpool fans want to be reading but it’s worth remembering that it’s all speculation at this point and rumours over Suarez’s future are likely to intensify throughout the summer.

However, if these reports are accurate and Barcelona can sign the 27-year-old for just £52m, the Spaniard’s are going to be getting one hell of a bargain. Nobody could have predicated last summer that Suarez would go on to have such an amazing season but I’m sure the Merseysiders will now regret agreeing to such a figure (if they did) as the players value is probably over £100m these days.

We’ll have to see how things develop over the coming weeks and nothing is going to happen until after the World Cup in any case, but Liverpool fans will be praying Mundo Deportivo’s report is wide of the mark or they may have seen the last of Suarez in an LFC shirt. The signing of Sanchez would make it a little easier to swallow though….

Six weeks ago when asked Suarez said there was no buyout clause specific to any club. I wouldn’t be surprised if there was no buyout clause at all, but even if there is Suarez has said he is not moving clubs this summer, but that is ignored because that doesn’t sell papers.

“However, if these reports are accurate”…

Well we all know they are not, but then you’d have nothing to write about would you?

The same papers were saying his transfer to Real was a done deal.

Suarez is gone, THERE IS 100% A RELEASE CLAUSE – that is the only reason he signed that contact last year, for a bumper rise and for that release clause. He has already started to angle for his move in the press, pool fans need to face up to the facts and stop arguing such a futile debate. It’s irrelevant what any of you think as Suarez doesnt give a hoot about your club.
