Liverpool are trying to hijack Arsenal move for Loic Remy with reports today claiming the Merseysiders have opened talks with Queens Park Rangers for the £10m-rated striker.

Remy is expected to leave Loftus Road on a permanent basis this summer after making it clear he wants to be back playing in the Champions League.

The former Marseille hitman has just come off the back of an impressive season long loan at Newcastle United where he netted 14 goals in 26 appearances, which followed on from 6 in 14 games for QPR after joining the club in January 2013.

Understandably, his goal-scoring form in England has attracted interest from the upper echelons of the Premier League with Arsenal reported to have held extensive talks over a deal to take him to north London.

Although no deal has been agreed as yet, it’s understood that Arsene Wenger is confident of getting his man as he looks to continue to strengthen his attack after signing Chilean attacker Alexis Sanchez from Barcelona on Thursday night.

However, it looks as though the Gunners are going to face some stiff competition for the 27-year-old’s signature as the Metro are citing reports coming from the Liverpool Echo that claim Liverpool have now made contact with QPR to discuss a possible deal to take Remy to Anfield.

Brendan Rodgers has already signed Rickie Lambert, Emre Can and Adam Lallana this summer but with Luis Suarez’s move to Barcelona now confirmed, the Northern Irishman is on the look-out for a proven Premier League goal-scorer and it appears Remy is on his radar.

Reports also claim that Liverpool are keen on Wilfried Bony but with Swansea holding out for around £20m for the Ivory Coast international, Remy could be viewed as a far cheaper alternative with the Frenchman believed to be available for £10m.

Remy would certainly be a useful addition for either Arsenal or Liverpool as proven goal-scorers in English football aren’t easy to find, and they are even harder to find for such a bargain price in today’s market, so it’s going to be interesting to see where the French hitman ends up this summer.
