Arsenal On Verge Of Signing Colombian After Agreeing Personal Terms

Arsenal are closing in on the £3m signing of Colombian number one David Ospina after agreeing personal terms with the Nice goalkeeper, according to reports.

The summer transfer window is now open for business and it’s expected to be a busy few weeks as managers strengthen their squads ahead of next season, so we’ll bring you all the latest news and gossip. Today, Gooner Mac brings us news on David Ospina.

Arsenal are closing in on the £3m signing of Colombian number one David Ospina after agreeing personal terms with the Nice goalkeeper, according to reports.

Gunners boss Arsene Wenger is on the look-out for a back-up goalkeeper to push Wojciech Szczesny next season after Lukasz Fabianski joined Swansea on a free transfer last month.

Several names have been linked with a move to the Emirates with the likes of Cardiff’s David Marshall, Reading’s Alex McCarthy and Espanyol keeper Kiko Casilla all touted as potential signings in recent weeks.

However, it appears Ospina has emerged as Wenger’s main target and the Mirror claim we are hoping to complete a £3m deal this week after agreeing personal terms following lengthy talks with the players representatives.

The 25-year-old has just entered the final year of his contract at Nice and with the keeper failing to agree terms over an extension he looks set for a cut-price move to north London after impressing for Colombia at the World Cup.

Obviously fans are keen to see more big-money signings come in following the purchase of Alexis Sanchez, but Ospina is an excellent goalkeeper and should prove to be a shrewd piece of business by the club if and when the move becomes official.

Ospina is likely to be our third major signing with Mathieu Debuchy’s arrival from Newcastle expected to be announced over the coming 48 hours and the Frenchman will be a direct replacement for compatriot Bacary Sagna at right-back.
