Arsenal Closing In On Triple Swoop As Wenger Continues £100m Splurge

Arsenal are closing in on a triple swoop for David Ospina, Mathieu Debuchy and Javi Manquillo as Arsene Wenger continues to utilise his £100m transfer kitty,

The summer transfer window is now open for business and it’s expected to be a busy few weeks as managers strengthen their squads ahead of next season, so we’ll bring you all the latest news and gossip. Today, Goooner Mac brings us news on a triple swoop for Arsenal.

Arsenal are closing in on a triple swoop for goalkeeper David Ospina and right-backs Mathieu Debuchy and Javi Manquillo as Arsene Wenger continues to utilise his £100m transfer kitty, according to reports.

With Lukasz Fabianski off to Swansea on a free transfer, the boss needs to bring in competition for number one Wojciech Szczesny and after being linked with a whole host of names in recent weeks, Ospina has emerged as a key target.

It appears we’ve now taken a huge step closer to bringing him to the Emirates with Goal claiming that we’ve agreed a £3m deal with Nice for the Colombian international and hope to tie up the move this week.

The 25-year-old has just one year remaining on his current contract so we’ve been able to negotiate a bargain fee, and he’ll come in to push Szczesny for the first team jersey next season after impressing at the World Cup this summer.

Goal also claim we’re expected to finally announce the signing of Mathieu Debuchy on Wednesday after agreeing an initial £8m deal with Newcastle United, and the French international is understood to have already agreed terms over the switch last week.

The deal appears to have been delayed until Alan Pardew found a replacement but with the Geordies wrapping up the signing of Daryl Janmaat on Tuesday afternoon, it’s paved the way for us to conclude the Debuchy transfer.

The third deal on the agenda is Atletico Madrid youngster Javi Manquillo with the report claiming that we’re in advanced negotiations over a season-long loan for the youngster.

Manquillo is predominantly a right-back but is also capable of playing in the center of defence or even at left-back, so it will be interesting to see where Arsene plans to play him if this loan deal comes off.

Goal seem to think the 20-year-old will be coming in to be understudy to Debuchy which will likely see Carl Jenskinon sent out on loan to get regular first team football under his belt.

So it looks like it’s going to be a busy few days at the Colney with three new signings potentially coming through the door as Arsene Wenger continues to use his reported £100m transfer kitty following the stunning capture of Alexis Sanchez last week.

If and when this triple swoop is completed, thoughts should turn to bringing in a defensive midfielder and if I was being really greedy, I’d also like to see another forward come in, but we’ll have to see what Arsene’s plan is in that department.
