Rafael got his career at White Hart Lane off to a flying start and the Dutch international was rewarded the top award after scoring three goals and setting up another in his only second month in the Barclays Premier League.

Van der Vaart becomes the fifth Dutchman to receive the award – following in the footsteps of Dennis Bergkamp, Ruud van Nistelrooy, Arjen Robben and Robin van Persie.

The decision was made by the Barclays Awards Panel, which includes representatives from football’s governing bodies, the media and fans.

Mention should be made that Rafa managed to score in every home match in the Premier League, a wonderful achievement for the player.

Thumbs up, Rafa!

It’s a dream to think that VDV is capable of turning things around in Spurs favour. One man cannot repeatedly accomplish this all on his own without the others playing a meaningful role.
