Man Utd Set To Learn Fate After Tabling €35m Attacker Bid

Manchester United are set to learn whether their €35million bid for Fiorentina’s Colombian attacker Juan Cuadrado has been successful, according to reports.

The summer transfer window is now open for business and it’s expected to be a busy few weeks as managers strengthen their squads ahead of next season, so we’ll bring you all the latest news and gossip. Today, the latest on Man Utd’s pursuit of Juan Cuadrado.

Manchester United are set to learn whether their €35m bid for Fiorentina attacker Juan Cuadrado has been successful, according to reports.

Cuadrado has just come off the back of an excellent season in Italy where he scored 15 goals in 43 appearances for Fiorentina and followed that up with some impressive displays at the World Cup.

United have been linked with the 26-year-old this summer and speculation in Spain earlier this week suggested the Red Devils had tabled a €35m (£27.5m) bid for the Colombian attacker and were waiting to hear back from the Serie A outfit.

However, the Old Trafford club face some stiff competition for his services as Spanish newspaper Sport claim that La Liga giants Barcelona are also interested and are prepared to match United’s bid after new boss Luis Enrique identified Cuadrado as a potential new recruit.

Despite the interest being shown, Fiorentina president Andrea Valle insists the club will do everything they can to keep the attacker at the club this summer, but concedes much of the decision lies in the hands of the player.

“Are we going to keep Cuadrado? I will do everything to achieve it.

“It is a difficult but not impossible situation. But it also depends on the willingness of the player.” Valle is quoted as saying by the Express

So with United and Barcelona fighting it out and Fiorentina desperate to keep hold of him, the Express are now reporting that Fiorentina boss Vicenzo Montella has asked Cuadrado to resolve his future once and for all this Friday.

Should the player indicate he wants to leave, Fiorentina will then have to decide whether to accept the €35m bids or try and negotiate a better deal, but either way, United shown learn tomorrow whether they have a chance of signing Cuadrado this summer.

The Colombian international is predominantly a right-winger but is also capable of playing as an attack-minded full-back, so he could be ideal in the wing-back position in Louis van Gaal’s new 3-5-2 formation that he’s adapting at Old Trafford.
