[Team] Arsenal vs Benfica: Chambers Starts, Sanchez On The Bench

By on August 2, 2014

Arsenal continue their pre-season preparations when they take on Benfica in the opening day of the Emirates Cup this afternoon.

Our German trio of Mesut Ozil, Lukas Podolski and Per Mertesacker are still enjoying an extended break following their World Cup exploits while Theo Walcott is still nursing his way back to full fitness, but we’ve still got a strong squad out.

Joel Campbell get his chance to impress as he starts in attack along with Yaya Sanogo and Alex Oxlade-Chamberlain, while Aaron Ramsey, Mathieu Flamini and Tomas Rosicky make up the front six.

New signing Calum Chambers starts at centre-back alongside Kieran Gibbs or Nacho Monreal, while Hector Bellerin and Damien Martinez also start. New signing Alexis Sanchez is among the subs who are likely to get a second-half run-out.

Here is the team:

Martinez, Bellerin, Chambers, Monreal, Gibbs, Flamini, Campbell, Ramsey, Rosicky, Ox, Sanogo

Subs: Szczesny, Debuchy, Koscielny, Arteta, Wilshere, Giroud, Sanchez, Cazorla, Coquelin, Akpom, Miquel
