Arsenal and Chelsea looks set to miss out on Sami Khedira with Carlo Ancelotti insisting the midfielder is set to remain at Real Madrid, according to reports

The summer transfer window is now reaching its climax and managers are working hard to make some last minute additions to their squad, so we’ll bring you all the latest news and gossip. Today, Sami Khedira looks set to remain at Real Madrid this summer.

Sami-Khedira

Arsenal and Chelsea looks set to miss out on Sami Khedira with Carlo Ancelotti insisting the midfielder is now set to remain at Real Madrid, according to reports.

Khedira has been widely tipped to leave the Bernabeu this summer after turning down a contract extension and with just one year remaining on his current deal, Madrid had been expected to cash in rather than risk losing the 27-year-old for nothing in 12 months time.

Carlo Ancelotti admitted last week that Khedira’s future was unclear and reports have claimed that the Spaniard’s would be willing to sell for just €15m (£12m) to prevent him from walking away for free next summer.

Arsenal have been strongly linked with a move for the World Cup winning midfielder in recent weeks, with speculation suggesting the Gunners have held talks with the European champions and the players agents about a potential deal.

Chelsea have also been credited with an interest as Jose Mourinho was believed to be keen on being reunited with Khedira having worked with the midfielder during his time at Madrid.

However, it looks like the duo have been dealt a huge blow as boss Carlo Ancelotti has now revealed that the situation with the German international is now ‘resolved’ and he’ll be staying at Madrid.

‘Khedira is happy here and he is staying. The matter is resolved and he stays at Real Madrid,’ Ancelotti is quoted as saying by the Metro.

Judging by Ancelotti’s comments, it appears Khedira will not be on the move this summer, but things can change quickly in football and I’m sure there are still a few twists and turns left in this transfer saga.

There is just over a week remaining until the transfer window closes so the likes of Arsenal and Chelsea still have time left to try and push through a move. I’d be surprised if Madrid allowed Khedira to stay without signing a new deal, so I’d expect more developments on his future over the coming days.
