Round-Up: Falcao Poses In Man Utd Shirt, Welbeck Completes £16m Arsenal Move

Here, we bring a round-up from transfer deadline day including news on Danny Welbeck’s move to Arsenal and Radamel Falcao’s switch to Manchester United.

The transfer window is closed for another summer and it turned out to be a record year of spending by the Premier League clubs. Here, we bring a round-up from deadline day including news on Danny Welbeck’s move to Arsenal and Radamel Falcao’s switch to Man Utd.

Falcao completes United move

It was a hectic deadline day at Old Trafford and the club were forced to go into the early hours of Tuesday morning, but eventually the signing of Radamel Falcao from Monaco was announced just before 2am last night.

We awoke to news on Monday morning that United had agreed a deal with Monaco to sign Falcao on a season-long loan with the option to make it permanent next summer, and the striker was soon on board a private jet heading for the UK to undergo his medical and discuss personal terms.

The 28-year-old arrived at United’s Carrington training base at around 6pm but the club had to get an extension from the FA to conclude the deal after the 11pm deadline as all the paperwork wasn’t sorted out in time.

Eventually those formalities were completed and United announced on ManUtd.com in the early hours that they had signed Falcao on loan with the option to buy next summer, and I’m sure United fans will certainly feel he was worth the wait.

Welbeck joins Arsenal

Falcao’s arrival at Old Trafford paved the way for Danny Welbeck to leave, and despite interest from the likes of Tottenham, the Manchester-born forward opted for a switch to Arsenal.

It emerged on Monday afternoon that the Gunners were in negotiations with United over the signing of the 23-year-old and the BBC broke the news at around 10pm that a deal worth around £16m had been agreed between the two clubs.

A medical and personal terms were soon agreed and the FA granted an extension for the deal to be completed by 1am, as Arsenal were forced to wait until United tied-up the Falcao deal before they could officially announce Welbeck’s signing.

It went to the wire but the North Londoners eventually confirmed on Arsenal.com at just before 1am that Welbeck had joined the club on a long-term contract for an undisclosed fee.

Those were the two big moves on deadline day and while we were made to wait until well past the 11pm deadline to have them confirmed, Arsenal and United managed to get them over the line.

What do Gunners fans think of the signing of Welbeck? Are United supporters pleased with the arrival of Falcao? Let us know below…
