[Video] Sporting Lisbon 0-1 Chelsea: Matic Header Secures Blues Win

Chelsea secured a vital 1-0 win over Sporting Lisbon in Portugal on Tuesday night thanks to a first half header from Nemanja Matic.

The Blues opened the scoring 10 minutes before half time when a Cesc Fabregas free-kick found Matic at the far post and the Serbian midfielder sent a looping header past Sporting keeper Patricio.

Chelsea had their chances to add to the scoreline in the second half and ended up hanging on as a hosts pushed for an equaliser, but they saw out the game to seal an important three points.

The victory sees Jose Mourinho’s men move top of Group G on four points, with Schalke and Maribor both on two points having drawn 1-1 in the groups other fixture.
