Arsene Wenger has given Arsenal.com an update on Mesut Ozil’s injury situation after the German suffered a knee injury.

We were hit with the devastating news on Wednesday that Ozil is facing an extended period on the sidelines after scans revealed he’s picked up a knee injury.

The 25-year-old arrived in Frankfurt to link-up with the Germany squad on Monday and complained of pain in his knee after playing 90 minutes for Arsenal during our 2-0 defeat to Chelsea at Stamford Bridge last weekend.

Unfortunately, after undergoing an MRI scan in Munich the German specialist concluded that Ozil has suffered a partial tear to his left knee ligament – an injury that the German FA claim will keep him out for up to 12 weeks.

However, Arsenal released a statement late on Wednesday claiming it was too early to determine how long the player would be out for, and Arsene has now confirmed that Ozil will see Arsenal specialists and the club will follow their recommendations on a recovery program.

Arsene told the clubs website:

“When he arrived with the German national team, they didn’t think it was a lot at the start,” the manager said. “He was supposed to practice on Wednesday but, in the end, he said that wasn’t possible for him.

“Then he had a scan and it was bad news. We have our own specialist giving us his opinion after reading the scan and examining Mesut. We will follow our own recommendations.”

We must now await further news from Arsenal once Ozil has seen the clubs medical team but it does look likely that we won’t be seeing the attacker until December at the earliest.

It comes as another huge blow and Ozil joins an ever-growing injury list. Let’s hope we can get through this international break without suffering any more injuries as we’re already going to be down to the bare bones for the Hull game as it is.
