Liverpool get back to Premier League action after the international break when they take on Queens Park Rangers on Sunday afternoon.

Ahead of the game, Brendan Rodgers has been speaking to the media at his pre-match press conference this afternoon and gave Liverpoolfc.com a team news and injury update where he revealed a quadruple injury boost.

The Northern Irishman confirmed that Emre Can and Joe Allen are back in the squad having returned to full training this week. Can has been out since the last international break after picking up an ankle injury while away with the German U-21’s while Allen suffered a knee injury with Wales, but they are now back in contention to face QPR.

There was more positive news with Glen Johnson also available after a long-term injury, and Dejan Lovren joined the rest of the squad in being put through their paces at Melwood and is expected to be fit this weekend after recovering from a abdominal strain he picked up while away with Croatia last week.

Rodgers also confirmed that Daniel Sturridge has been looking good in training after returning from a seven-game absence due to a thigh injury that he picked up at the start of September, but he’ll be assessed on Saturday to see if he’s fit enough to feature at Loftus Road.

Rodgers told the clubs website:

“Thankfully, we have got a number of our other injured players back,” said the manager. “Joe Allen is training and looking really well, Emre Can is back, Glen Johnson is back in. So that side is looking healthy.

“Dejan will hopefully be fine for the weekend. We’ll have to see tomorrow how Dan is. We just need to see by tomorrow where he’s at and then we’ll take it from there.

“He has obviously been out for a long time, nearly six weeks. He is working tirelessly with the medical team – I have got an incredible sports science and medical team here.

“They really focus in on his rehabilitation. He’s a top-class talent and he’ll be looking forward to getting back once he’s ready.”

If Sturridge is passed fit, it means that Liverpool’s only remaining serious injury concerns are centre-back Mamadou Sakho who is out with a thigh injury while youngster Jon Flanagan isn’t expected back until the New Year after surgery on a knee injury.
