Chelsea boss Jose Mourinho has confirmed the club are set to be handed a major double injury boost with Diego Costa and Ramires expected to be passed fit to face Queens Park Rangers on Saturday.

Costa has been struggling with a niggling hamstring problem all season and he’s missed Chelsea’s last four fixtures after aggravating the injury while away with the Spain squad during the last international break at the start of the month.

The Brazilian-born hitman’s recovery has also been hampered after he picked up a stomach bug last week which led to him spending the night in hospital.

However, speaking after Chelsea’s 2-1 win over Shrewsbury Town in the Capital One Cup last night, Mourinho told reporters that Costa is set to return to action this weekend when they welcome West London rivals QPR to Stamford Bridge.

In a double boost, the Portuguese coach also confirmed that Ramires should make his comeback on Saturday having missed the last five weeks with a groin injury.

‘Without any further complications, Diego Costa and Ramires will be fit to face QPR at the weekend.’ Mourinho is quoted as saying by the Daily Mail

Ramires’ return will give Mourinho an extra option in midfield which should lighten the load on the likes of Nemanja Matic and Cesc Fabregas, but it’s the availability of Costa that’s really going to please Chelsea fans.

The 26-year-old has been in sensational form following his move from Atletico Madrid in the summer, having scored nine goals in nine games to help the Blues to an impressive start to the season, and his return comes at the perfect time with Loic Remy out with a groin problem.

Mourinho’s men head into the weekend unbeaten in all competitions with seven wins and two draws ensuring they hold a five point lead in the Premier League, while they are also well on course to qualifying for the knockout stages of the Champions League and have already booked their place in the last eight of the League Cup.
