arsene wenger

I seriously can’t remember the last time won, and I am pretty sure I’m not the only one. With our recent results, serious introspection is required and these are the problems ‘WITH SOLUTIONS’ that I feel our beloved club is facing :

1) We don’t have a leader

2) We don’t have a finisher

3) Our defence is for a lack of a word “toothless”, conceding the same no of goals as United and bagging 4 losses…

SQUILLACI is a player who is happy to remain anonymous, he likes to sit back and remain hidden in the crowd, he is simply a very average player, but whose mistakes remain somewhat hidden due to his experience. Fabregas has no will to play, people get on Arshavin’s back for not showing will to play, but what about Fabregas ?

Solutions:

We need to get Vermaelen back, he is a leader and should be made captain, Fabregas is not a leader. He does not want to play for us and is also injury prone. Let him leave this summer. Nasri can take his place, with Wilshere and hopefully Ramsey competing for the other spot.

WE NEED to buy Benzema or a proven finisher. Chamakh is a great number 2 striker, someone who is backup to a great striker, he’s good but will never win you matches on his own. Nikko is a young Chamakh at best, if he does everything right he can at most become what Chamakh is now.

RVP might as well be sold if a good offer comes around as his injury record speaks for itself. It doesn’t matter if he loves the club or is one of the better strikers (at his best) in Europe. We need to buy a world class PROVEN centre back, Per Mertersacker. Clichy and Gibbs must be given tutoring lessons on how to give a decent cross into the box.

Theo needs to bulk-up, as whats the use for having so much speed, if your opponent just out-muscles you! Enough of the 4-3-3, to play the 4-3-3 you need strong physical players to dominate the midfield, like the team of 03-04 did, our present midfield simply cannot match that level of physicality and hence a strategy which is to their strengths should be played.

Changing the tactics, changing the formation is all a part of the game. The same all “Attack, Attack, Attack” is going to get us nowhere. Ugly wins should also be a part of our game.

Should Wenger call it day ?????

Arsene Wenger is a stubborn manager, but he has led us through the most treacherous period in the history of the club, rebuilding an entire team at a shoestring budget while moving to a new stadium.

Most people underestimate the difficulty in that, clubs such as Leeds, Newcastle and maybe even Liverpool, highlight the many problems we could have easily succumbed too.

He is an intelligent manager and knows more about football that I probably ever will, but his stubbornness is his main flaw, and it may be argued that this stubbornness is what has kept us from a trophy in the last few years.

Personally I’d rather he remain, but also all for the changes I have highlighted above to also take place, which is like wishing for it to rain while the sun is shining. It’s rare but it does happen !

Wenger  is not a stupid man and our recent results will have showed him the flaws in his plan and maybe these recent results will have finally push him to go through with the complete overhaul which began earlier this season. So in all have faith for every cloud has a silver lining, we just have to search for it in ours !!

KEEP THE FAITH…

Cheer-i-o,

THE ARMOURY

Some good points but don’t you think Wenger whilst being the right man during the new build is yesterday’s man now.It seems increasingly unlikely that it will all work out fine.Football evolves, other managers have learnt and moved forward and frankly overtaken Wenger. He no longer has fresh ideas and he certainly doesn’t have better players.
That said if you gave the same squad to Ferguson,Mourinho,Van Gaal,Hiddink etc I bet they’d get more out of them.

I think that Wenger has proven he is the right man for the job and we should not kid ourselves. Without him we would have been another Fulham. It’s the playes that need to stand up and help him out. They are good, but think they are to good for most opposition and switch off during the games. Then they lack the balls when they meet good teams like Chelsea, Barcelona, etc….. Wenger has no funds and he does magic with the little money he gets. I agree he is stuborn at times and rigid in his approach with regards type of players he buys and formations. But why should he change it has worked in the past. He just had more comitted and better players than now, Seaman, Adams, Vieira, Parlour, Pires, Henry, to name a few. Are any of out keepers better than Seaman? No. Any defender better than Adams? Vermalen is the only one that gets close. Any midfielder more comitted than Vieira? No way. Not even Cesc at his best. More skillful than Pires? Nasri, Cesc and Whilshire but they don’t have a Vieira to back them up, when it gets to hot under the collar. A foward with the goal instinct and speed that Henry had? Not even close.
We lose and are not consitant because our level of performance and bottle against tough teams has gone out the window. Are our players good enough to get to the level of winning competitions, probably they are but they need to stop thinking about the money, less about playing themselves in the playstation and start thinking that they have to work hard for each other to win consistantly and start getting the respect that other top teams have. Get a grip!!!! Don’t blame Arsene blame the poor perfomance of the players. They have been given a gift to play football at a top club. A gift that most of us fans would die for. To represent our club on the field and win for the colours. They squander the gift because most of them are overpayed brats that don’t feel a thing for the club, tradition and most importantly the fans.

I agree with pretty much all of that.

I think it is especially vital that the Verminator returns asap and i also agree with ur point about him getting the armband.

I think we are making too much of these uncertain times for the club. Maybe you make your own luck, but at the same time it feels like it’s just one of those times when everything goes against you. We lament the injuries. But also yesterday, when everything seems to be going sorta OK (we are grinding it out), it’s the referee who is having a shocker: penalty incident is one thing, but for the life of me I just can’t understand how we got more yellow cards than them. In the first 15 minutes Braga defenders followed through the back of Fabregas (and Wilshere) 3 or 4 times with the referee not interested. The two-footed studs-up challenge on Wilshere is a straight red also, etc… Persistent cynical fouling went unpunished the whole game. I just don’t get it. It was the worst (and the most one-sided) refereeing performance in the Champion’s League for a long time…

    When it rains, it pours…

Did you see how per mertersacker performed this weekend? hangeland is much more better.the flaws in the team have been there since 2008 song, diaby, denilson, koscienly and squillaci are not TOP4 QUALITY! squillaci only plays for france in the qualifiers but is 30! KOSCIENLY can’t even make squad for poland in a friendly a midfield enforcer like fletcher will do plus a tall, strong, two footed cb the strikers are under performing and some lack match fitness.

If he keeps insisting on using 4-5-1 formation, why should he be keeping so many strikers? We don’t have strikers like Alan Shearer and the lone striker in front clearing struggles when the opponents deployed two players on him.

And for goodness sake, stop buying midgets. It’s so horrible when i see our players competing for headers cos most of the time, they get no where.

Sorry to say, Cesc is now behaving the same way as Overmars and Petit when they are about to leave. Let him go, his body language says it all. He is not willing to play in our shirt.

And please dropped some players who are not performing. Their morale cannot be more important than the performance of the team overall. Clichy has always been out of position, poor defending etc so if he rates Gibbs, give him the chance he deserves. If anyone realised, opponents likes attacking our left side.

And Song, who does he think he is? Just because he scored two goals, is he convinced that he became Zidane??? Why allow him to roam forward so readily.

RVP has apparently got the Anderton’s symptom—a sicknote. Sell him. Why should the ticket holders be paying close to 100 punds for someone who don’t play?

    It’s just a difficult time guys,only a dreamer would hope for a %100 record.

Concerning Cesc,i think he needs a viera Like to boast his game just like Flamini did,i don’t see Chamakh a lone striker,Get Carlton Cole of Westham.

Lets keep our Hope in Wenger
No Manager is happy to be on the loosing side

HE IS NOT FOR SALE AT ANY PRICE! not all clubs are whores that sell for high money. some players are just not for sale. simple as. not everyone are like the enlgish money grabbing, some clubs like Mettershacks has class you know.

You sound like someone that has no clue whatsoever on how to run a club and how transfares etc are done.
You sound like someone that watch footy every week and thus think you are an expert. Abit like the pundints in the sun.. people everyone els laugh at

Reading all this sentiments reveals just about everything we have against Arsenal. Supporting it these days has become tiresome but we cannot blame the coach.
The commitment of the players is wanting and i may suggest he employs Mourinho’s principle, if u don’t perform, to hell with u!!! the players are not capitalising on chances and sadly enough, not seeing that the fans are crying.
About Fab…he is not an Arsenal player, same with Arshavin. They cannot lie they love this club but i wonder where they will fit in Barcelona with the kind of form they are showing.
We simply need to see that its never about sweet football and win because you have to or else…go out with nothing.
    Regards,
    A frustrated gooner.

I think it’s not that we need to totally rebuild.
Small adjustments ,We need to loan out Denilson for a season or two to bulk up and learn how to track defenders if the brazilian wants to play in the premiership…..he is current looking like a last fart in a whirlwind when it comes to defending and doing the “ugly” side of the game….

Yip the verminator presence is going to be crictical if arsenal want a trophy this season and another world class CB mertsacker will be awesome.

Lastly we need a experience Defensive Mid and Melo can do the job or what about bringing Flamini back just someone to press and protect.Song has improved but where was he when we conceded the first goal against spurs?..in their half! and DM are meant to sit and protect the CB’s…even worse denilson let bale go free ala rooney repeat against us….so those 2 as Defensive Midlfielder are a serious joke….

We never want to let Cesc go he is still world class and on form he’ll turn any game on it’s head…

Theo ol Theo when are you going to stop talking and deliver….needs to produce a final ball and needs to gain composure and run at defenders…still lacking tactical maturity..

Finally Mr Wenger please can you allow the team to shoot around the box instead of playing (threading perfect through balls) this will alter our predictable style and remeber all the teams that win a league have a great defense and you build the team from the back and i agree the Verminator as captain for me…..I won’t even speak about almunia as i don’t have 2 hours to waste of my life but he is done and hopefully an experienced swartzer is on his way in Jan…

Denilson needs to be sold period!this is bcos for as long as he remains there weneger will never see the need to bring in a more quality DM, our problem is in defending our lead or even hanging on when we cant break down oppositions defence and every teams first line of defence should be it’s midfield this gives the defence an easier job of tidying up at the back that is why our team was so successful during the 98-2002 seasons bcos we had likes of viera, petit, edu, gilberto, palour even lunberg as surpporting casts to a well marshaled defence lead by Tony Adams and a no nonsense harry Keown, a midfield that could turn defence into quick counter attacks for the likes of henry, bergkamp and pires to strive and on nights when we could not score more than a goal our midfield and defence were resiliant.alot of work needs to be done on these team gone are the days when we scored from set pieces or a henry free kick no one seems to have stepped up to the plate not even van persie who seems to have lost the touch every team these days have a free kick expert to call upon.

chelsea have it in drogba, lampard and alex ,everton have it in Arteta pinnear, saha or banes, spurs in bale, van dar vaart, modric or even huddleston, city in tevez, johnson, silva or milner and united have rooney, giggs, nani or even scholes players who can almost gurantee them a goal each time they strike the ball even if it’s through a rebound.even lesser teams are begining to score more goals from free kicks with each of these teams having the option of right and left footed players to call upon.we have only cesc, nasri or van persie when he is fit. somtimes scoring from free kicks could be the only way to win games when everything else fails and this is another aspect of our game we seriously need to work on.

finally the most important ingrident of any team is a winning mentality that is clearly missing from this crop of palyers who dont seem to understand what it means to wear the red and white of arsenal the pride and honour its brings just like the way it was in our glory days they have to realise that it is not just any job but a way of life.

    ……………A gunner 4 life
