[VIDEO GOALS] Villa 2-4 Arsenal: Wilshere Goal Helps Send Arsenal Top

Arsenal beat Aston Villa 4-2 at Villa Park to go top of the Premier League, for a couple of hours at least as Manchester United play at 3pm.

Arsenal opened the scoring six minutes before half time through Andrey Arshavin, who cut inside from the left flank and drilled home into the bottom corner. Samir Nasri then doubled the lead only five minutes later smashing home Arshavin’s corner on the volley from the edge of the box, although it did take a deflection on its way past Friedel.

Aston Villa got back in the game in controversial circumstances when youngster Clarke fired home from the edge of the area, however replays showed John Carew standing in an offside position and clearly blocking Fabianski’s view. Arsenal soon restored their 2-goal advantage when Rosicky sent Chamakh clear and the striker poked home past Friedel.

But Arsenal let villa back in the game once again as Clarke headed home from close range with 20 minutes remaining. But Jack Wilshere scored his first Premier League goal for Arsenal in injury time to secure a 2-4 victory and send Arsenal top. For the time being at least.
