Man Utd Ready To Hijack Chelsea’s Move For €35m Attacker

Man Utd are set to try and hijack Chelsea’s bid to sign €35m-rated attacker Juan Cuadrado by tempting Fiorentina with Adnan Januzaj as part of the deal

With the January transfer window coming to a close, managers are frantically trying to tie-up those late deals and strengthen their squads ahead of the second half of the season, so we’ll bring you all the latest news and gossip. Today, Man Utd are ready to move for Chelsea target Juan Cuadrado….

Manchester United are set to try and hijack Chelsea’s bid to sign €35m-rated attacker Juan Cuadrado by tempting Fiorentina with Adnan Januzaj as part of the deal, according to reports today.

Jose Mourinho is understood to be on the look out for another attacker with both Andre Schurrle and Mohamed Salah hotly tipped to leave Stamford Bridge before the transfer window closes on February 2nd.

Cuadrado has emerged as a top target for Chelsea this month with reports suggesting the Blues have been in talks with Fiorentina over a potential deal, only to be told they must meet the Colombian’s €35m buy-out figure to stand a chance of signing him.

However, it looks like Chelsea will now face stiff competition for the 26-year-old’s signature as talkSPORT are reporting that Manchester United are now set to try and hijack the West Londoners move.

The report suggests that Louis van Gaal has renewed his interest in Cuadrado after being linked back in the summer and is now ready to tempt Fiorentina by including Adnan Januzaj as a make-weight in any deal.

Januzaj has struggled to make a real impact under the Dutch coach since he took charge in the summer, making just 13 appearances in all competitions and many of those have been from the subs bench, so it wouldn’t really be a surprise if the 19-year-old was sacrificed to land Cuadrado.

It remains to be seen whether Fiorentina will be interested in the Belgian international, or indeed if Januzaj would be open to moving to Italy, but news of United’s interest in Cuadrado is sure to have alerted Chelsea.

If Mourinho really wants the player it looks like he’s going to have push ahead with a deal quickly and that could mean having to sell at least one of Salah or Schurrle in order to raise the necessary funds.

Wherever he ends up, Cuadrado would be an excellent signing as he’s a hugely versatile player. He’s predominantly a right winger but he’s also capable of playing at right-back, right wing-back or anywhere across the attacking positions, so I’m sure both Chelsea and United fans would be pleased to see him sign for their club this month.
