Arsenal Team News: Attacker Back For Tottenham Game + Wilshere & The Ox Updates

Arsene Wenger has given a team news update on Jack Wilshere, Danny Welbeck and Alex Oxlade-Chamberlain ahead of Arsenal’s clash with Tottenham Hotspur.

Arsenal make the short trip across North London to take on Tottenham Hotspur at White Hart Lane on Saturday lunchtime.

Ahead of the game, Gunners boss Arsene Wenger has given Arsenal.com a team news and injury update including the latest on a number of his injured players.

The good news is that Danny Welbeck returns to the squad after missing the last six weeks with a thigh injury that he suffered against West Ham on Boxing Day.

No other players will return this weekend but Jack Wilshere is on the verge of making a comeback. The midfielder has been on the sidelines since injuring his ankle in November but could return to full training as early as Sunday and is expected to be back in contention by late February.

Alex Oxlade-Chamberlain is back in light training but the Tottenham game comes too soon so he’ll join Alexis Sanchez on the sidelines, with the Chilean still nursing a hamstring strain.

Wenger also revealed that Serge Gnabry will play for the under-21s against Newcastle on Monday as he continues to build his match fitness following a lengthy injury absence, while new signing Krystian Bielik is set to feature too.

The Arsenal boss told Arsenal.com:

on the team news…

Welbeck is back in the group. Apart from that we have the same squad available as last week.

on Jack Wilshere…

Jack is back in full training next week, hopefully from Sunday.

on Alex Oxlade-Chamberlain…

Alex is still out, but he is starting to practice again, not full training.

on Serge Gnabry…

Serge will play on Monday night at Newcastle, with Bielik. Bielik is coming along very well.

Arsenal head into the game sitting just one point above Tottenham in fifth position in the Premier League table, so both sides will be desperate for a win to not only claim the North London bragging rights, but also give their Champions League qualification hopes a major boost.
