Rodgers Confirms Triple Injury Boost Ahead Of Spurs + Leiva & Sturridge Latest

Brendan Rodgers has confirmed that Adam Lallana, Philippe Coutinho and Raheem Sterling should face Spurs while he also gave the latest on Daniel Sturridge.

Brendan Rodgers has confirmed that Adam Lallana, Philippe Coutinho and Raheem Sterling should all be fit to face Tottenham while he also gave the latest on Lucas Leiva and Daniel Sturridge.

Lallana was left out of the squad entirely for Saturday’s 0-0 draw at Everton while both Sterling and Coutinho were considered doubts to face Spurs after being forced off with injuries at Goodison Park.

However, speaking to the media at his pre-match press conference this afternoon, Rodgers told Liverpoolfc.com that he was confident the attacking trio would all be passed fit to feature at Anfield for Tuesday’s huge clash.

There isn’t such good news regarding the fitness of Lucas Levia as the Reds boss has confirmed that the Brazilian is facing a spell on the sidelines after suffering a groin injury at the weekend.

Leiva limped off after just 16 minutes against Everton and although Rodgers refused to put a specific time-frame on his recovery, widespread reports suggest the midfielder is facing at least a month out.

Rodgers told the clubs website:

“Lucas is one that will probably miss a little bit of time. We’re just waiting on the exact results of the scan.

“All the others should be fine.”

The Liverpool boss was also quizzed about the chances of Daniel Sturridge making his first start since way back in August – when coincidentally he starred in a 3-0 win over Tottenham at White Hart Lane.

Sturridge has made three substitute appearances in recent weeks, but Rodgers refused to give too much away over whether he’ll start the 25-year-old tomorrow when he was asked by reporters:

“You’ll see tomorrow night,”

“He’s in a condition where he has been training for a little bit of time. There’ll be a time where he will be able to start, whether it’s tomorrow or whether it’s at the weekend, you’ll have to wait and see.”

It will be a huge blow for Liverpool to be without Leiva as he’s been in excellent form in recent weeks, but it will be a relief that Sterling, Coutinho and Lallana should be fit while I’d bet on Sturridge being given his first start in five months.

Liverpool head into the game sitting four points adrift of fifth-placed Tottenham so they desperately need a win to get themselves right back in the hunt for Champions League qualification this season.
