Ramsey: Injured again

Arsenal have been handed a major injury boost with Aaron Ramsey only ruled out for a minimum of two weeks with a hamstring injury, according to talkSPORT.

Ramsey came on during the closing stages of our 2-1 win over Leicester City on Tuesday night but only lasted nine minutes after pulling up with yet another hamstring problem.

Arsene Wenger admitted after the game that he was fearing another lengthy lay-off and newspaper reports claimed the Welshman was facing a between four and six weeks on the sidelines.

That prognosis could have ruled Ramsey out until April and seen him miss at least seven fixtures including both our Champions League last 16 ties against Monaco.

However, it appears the injury isn’t bad as first feared as talkSPORT are now reporting that the 24-year-old should only miss at least two weeks – although they do say it could be slightly longer depending on how quickly he recovers and whether the boss will be overly cautious with bringing him back too soon.

This is the third time Ramsey has suffered a hamstring injury this season alone and he’s only recently returned from a six weeks absence, so Arsene would be forgiven if he did give this latest injury plenty of time to heal fully.

talkSPORT suggest that Ramsey will undergo further tests but is certain to miss upcoming games against Middlesbrough and Crystal Palace, and is unlikely to be risked for the first leg against Monaco on the 25th.

However, if he recovers well, he could be back in contention to face Everton on March 1st which means he may only miss three games rather than seven, which will obviously be a huge boost.

In further good news, Alexis Sanchez isn’t expected to be out for any significant period as his knee injury was just a minor knock, but Arsene will likely rest him for Sunday’s FA Cup clash with Middlesbrough.
