By on February 16, 2015

Manchester United booked a date with Arsenal in the quarter finals of the FA Cup with a 3-1 win over Preston North End at Deepdale this evening.

After a goalless first half, a shock looked to be on the cards as the hosts opened the scoring in the 47th minute when Scott Laird fired home, although David De Gea will feel he should have done better.

United levelled things up in the 67th minute in controversial circumstances when Ander Herrera curled home for 1-1 but Preston were incensed the goal was allowed to stand as Wayne Rooney appeared to be in an offside position and interfering with play.

The visitors then went 2-1 ahead when Marouane Fellaini fired home from a tight angle before Wayne Rooney was brought down in the area and converted the resulting spot kick to seal a 3-1 win.

United will now host Arsenal at Old Trafford in the quarter finals.
