Chelsea vs Burnley Preview, Team News, Likely Line-Ups, Predicted Score & Betting
Chelsea take on Burnley at Stamford Bridge on Saturday afternoon. Here’s a preview with team news, line-ups, predicted score and betting tips for the game.
Chelsea will look to extend their lead at the top of the Premier League table when they take on Burnley at Stamford Bridge on Saturday.
The Blues warmed up for the game with a very useful 1-1 draw away at Paris Saint-Germain in the first leg of their Champions League last 16 tie on Tuesday night to put them in the driving seat to progress to the quarter finals.
However, Jose Mourinho will now turn his attention to domestic matters and his side currently sit seven points clear at the top of the Premier League table and they’ll be looking to at least maintain that advantage with another win tomorrow.
Burnley come into the match off the back of a 3-1 loss away at Manchester United last week and it kick starts a nightmare run of fixtures that will see them come up against eight of the current top nine teams in the division in quick succession.
With Sean Dyche’s men already sitting 19th in the table, the future looks bleak for Burnley so they’ll be desperate to try and pull off a major shock and somehow come away with a positive result this weekend.
The Blues have no fresh injury concerns to deal with so John Obi Mikel remains their main injury doubt as he continues to nurse a knee injury.
Mourinho may decide to mix things up to keep his players fresh which could see the likes of Kurt Zouma and Filipe Luis come into the back four.
Oscar is likely to return to the starting eleven while Juan Cuadrado may also make another start in attack with Willian rested.
As for Burnley, they could have Stephen Ward back in contention after he recovered from an ankle injury.
But Matt Taylor is continuing his recovery from an Achilles injury so he remains on the sidelines with long-term absentee Dean Marney.
Chelsea 3-0 Burnley: The Blues are formidable at home and although Tuesday’s PSG game may have taken a lot out of the players, I still expect Mourinho’s men to ease to a routine home win tomorrow afternoon.
Chelsea are the heavy favourites to win the game at odds of 1/5 which may not get much attention from the punters. If you’d prefer to back the exact score, our 3-0 prediction is on offer at 6/1 while I also like the look of Eden Hazard to open the scoring at 4/1. If we combine those bets in a scorecast then we get very tempting odds of 16/1. Surely that’s got to be worth a couple of quid!?
