Mario Balotelli has taken to Instagram to complain about the incorrect decision to rule out his ‘goal’ during Liverpool’s loss to Villa in the FA Cup semi-final

Mario Balotelli has taken to Instagram this evening to complain about the incorrect decision to rule out his ‘goal’ during Liverpool’s loss to Aston Villa in the FA Cup semi-final this afternoon.

Balotelli came off the bench at half-time and with Liverpool trailing 2-1 heading into the final stages of the game, the Italian looked to have sent the match into extra-time after racing clear to slot home an apparent equaliser in the 89th minute.

However, the ‘goal’ was ruled out as offside by the match officials – although television replays seemed to suggest the Italian international was in fact onside and the goal should have stood.

Balotelli has now taken to Instagram to upload a photo proving he was onside with a message saying:

“No words. This picture say it all. (Congratulation to Aston Villa) anyway…And guys HEAD UP we are Liverpool and YNWA expecially when we lose”.

It was certainly a poor decision from the linesman and it’s just the sort of bad luck Balotelli could have done without.

The striker has struggled badly since moving to Anfield last summer and this ‘goal’ could have kick-started his career at Liverpool.

After Balotelli’s effort was chalked off, there was no way back for the Merseysiders and despite taking a first half lead through Philippe Coutinho, goals from Christian Benteke and Fabian Delph secured a 2-1 win for Villa and booked their place in the final against Arsenal.
