Arsenal Agree 4-Year Deal With Midfielder After Liverpool Fail With €20m Bid

Arsenal have agreed a four-year deal to sign Arturo Vidal after Liverpool had a €20m offer for the midfielder rejected by Juventus, according to reports.

As the opening of the summer transfer window approaches, managers are working hard identifying targets and lining-up potential deals so we’ll bring you all the news and gossip. Today, Arsenal have agreed a deal to sign Arturo Vidal….

Arsenal have agreed a four-year deal to sign Arturo Vidal after Liverpool had a €20m offer for the midfielder rejected by Juventus, according to reports.

Vidal has enjoyed another excellent campaign in Italy and he helped the newly-crowned Serie A champions seal a domestic double after beating Lazio in the final of the Coppa Italia last night, while they could yet win an historic treble if they could beat Barcelona in the European Cup final.

Despite his success in Turin, there has still been constant speculation linking the 27-year-old with a move to the Premier League this summer with reports earlier this week claiming that Liverpool had seen a €20m (£14.4m) bid rejected.

However, it appears he could still be heading to England as the Daily Star are citing reports coming out of Italy that claim Arsenal have taken advantage of Liverpool’s failure to agree a fee with Juventus by agreeing terms with the Chilean international.

The original source of this information comes from Italian outlet Calciomercatoweb – who claim the Gunners met with Vidal’s agent, Fernando Felicevich, in London last week and agreed terms over a four-year deal.

It’s not made clear in either report whether Arsenal have agreed a fee with Juventus or not, but the Star do state that the Italian champions are demanding €35m (£25m) for his signature this summer.

Vidal shares the same agent as Arsenal attacker Alexis Sanchez, and if these reports are to be believed, then it looks like he could be set to link-up with his Chilean compatriot in North London.

We’ll have to wait and see how much truth there really is behind these reports but Vidal would be a sensational signing if the Gunners could pull it off and it would be another statement of intent from Arsene Wenger.

The Frenchman has loosened the purse strings in recent years with the big-money signings of Mesut Ozil and Alexis Sanchez and I’m sure the Emirates faithful would love to see Vidal’s name added to that list of marquee signings.
