Arsenal Beat Liverpool To Sign €35m Midfielder, Deal To Be Announced Next Month

Arsenal have beaten Liverpool to the signing of €35m-rated Juventus star Arturo Vidal and will officially announce the deal after next months Copa America

As the opening of the summer transfer window approaches, managers are working hard identifying targets and lining-up potential deals so we’ll bring you all the news and gossip. Today, Arsenal have agreed a deal to sign Arturo Vidal….

Arsenal have beaten Liverpool to the signing of €35m-rated Juventus star Arturo Vidal and will officially announce the deal after next months Copa America tournament, according to reports.

Vidal has enjoyed another superb campaign in Italy with the Chilean international helping Juventus claim a league and cup double, while they still have the chance to seal a historic treble when they take on Barcelona in the European Cup final.

Despite his success in Turin, the 27-year-old has constantly been linked with a move to the Premier League and reports last week claimed that Liverpool had seen a €20m (£14.4m) bid rejected with Juve believed to be demanding €35m (£25m).

Reports then emerged from Italy suggesting that Arsenal had moved into pole position with the Gunners understood to have agreed terms over a four-year deal following a meeting with Vidal’s agent, Fernando Felicevich, in London last week.

Many were skeptical over the validity of these claims but the Daily Star are citing fresh reports coming out of South America which state that Vidal’s move to the Emirates is a ‘done deal’.

Argentine journalist, Hernan Feler, who works for South American television station DirectTV, made the claim on Twitter over the weekend and says that the deal will officially be announced after next months Copa America tournament.

He Tweeted:

“After the Copa America in Chile, it will be made official the arrival of Arturo Vidal to Arsenal.

“Everything is closed. Alexis [Sanchez] will partner him.”

Feler is reportedly the man who first broke news of Alexis Sanchez moving to Arsenal from Barcelona last summer, so I’m sure the Gunners fans will be hoping his information is spot-on again this time around.

However, we’ll have to wait and see how much truth there really is behind these reports but the signing of Vidal would be a sensational coup from Arsenal if they could pull it off and it would be another statement of intent from Arsene Wenger.

The Frenchman has been able to loosen the purse strings in recent transfer windows with the big-money signings of Alexis Sanchez and Mesut Ozil and Vidal would be another marquee name to add to that list if the North Londoners have got a deal agreed to bring him to the Emirates.
